THE DIRECTOR’S CHAIR Premieres with John Carpenter on EL REY This Saturday

Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey Network is premiering its newest original show, the interview series The Director’s Chair, this Saturday featuring a conversation between Rodriguez and Master of Horror John Carpenter.

The Director’s Chair is an hour-long series with a ten episode run featuring “the industry’s most notable directors as they engage in a revealing and unexpected exchange about the world of filmmaking.” This Saturday’s episode with Carpenter compliments a day of programming, or “Carpen-terror” as I’ve heard Rodriguez call it, including El Rey showings of Carpenter directed classics like The Fog, Assault on Precinct 13 and Escape from New York.

Regarding the upcoming interview series Rodriguez said, “I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked closely with some of the most creative minds in filmmaking. The Director’s Chair will be an intimate forum for the wildly unexpected conversation that ensues when passionate people discuss their fascination with this art form and can share what they have learned about the industry they love. This is an opportunity to do a deep dive into what makes some of these great minds tick and can’t wait to have the opportunity to leading the dialogue for some our very first episodes.”

The Director’s Chair joins original El Rey programming like From Dusk Till Dawn, which will return for a second season, Matador, from executive producer Roberto Orci, coming this July, and the recently announced unscripted series Cutting Crew about noted Philadelphia barber Amit Corso.

The first episode of The Director’s Chair featuring a conversation between Robert Rodriguez and John Carpenter premieres on El Rey this Saturday.
