Hello there! Welcome to The Dan Cave! Are you wearing a new cologne? I don’t have a sense of smell, but I like you all the same.
Today’s episode of The Dan Cave comes to you from a galaxy far, far away. That’s right — sunny, miserable Burbank, CA! It may be hotter than a lava pit on Mustafar here, but that doesn’t make me any less excited for the seemingly endless stream of Star Wars: Episode VII news coming our way. While grainy set photos of people in human clothing are all well and good, the news that has me really amped up is anything that has to do with potential Star Wars spin-off films. A few months back, a purported leak hinted that Han Solo and Boba Fett solo films were in our future. We also already know both Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) and Josh Trank (Fantastic Four) have each been tapped to direct one of these spin-off films, but other than that, we don’t know a heck of a whole lot. Over the weekend, news broke that an Obi-Wan Kenobi solo adventure might be in our future, but all that really did was get me thinking about what else could be coming down the pipeline. So, with that said, today I’m going to run down the 5 Star Wars spin-off films I’d most like to see. I know I’m never supposed to tell you the odds, but odds are that you’re going to dig them too.
What do you guys think? What Star Wars spin-off film would you most like to see? An erotic thriller starring Jabba the Hutt? A searing psychological thriller centering on Watto? Let me know in the comments below or tell me on Twitter (@osteoferocious) using the hashtag #TheDanCave!
mara jade.
If there are to be hundreds (and we Disney can) of off split film series, I would like a KOTOR series started. With it being virtually untapped (with the exclusion of the SW games) the material is open to interpretation. Plus a solo film of an early upcoming Palpatine with some LOST style flashbacks would be awesome. C’mon Abrams!!!!!!
Jabba the Hutt’s personal assistant. Kinda like the gangster version of the Artoo movie idea. End credits, Threepio and Artoo walking up to the palace straight out of ROTJ.
These are better ideas than what the “so called professionals” are coming up with.
I am strangely down for all of these
General Kota. I know he’s most likely been removed from the movie continuity due to SW Rebels, but I’d love to see him in a movie

Amanaman
They already did the R2 D2 movie — under the dome, the true story!
3 words: Jek Tono Porkins
Eldirector!
Ahsoka. Give us the story after she walked away from the Jedi Temple
Yeah, I’d definitely watch this.
WEDGE!
ANTILLES!
I want to see a Star Wars/Indiana Jones crossover, even if’s just a short end credits scene. What happens when Indy finds an artifact that transports him to the Galactic Empire?
Hahahahah, is that what happened in Crystal Skull?
“Mos Eisely Cantina”. Criminal underworld. Outskirts of brewing war. Space Opera Noir. Bounty Hunters. “Play it again, Figrin D’An…”
HA! This is awesome. I’d definitely watch this.
I would like to see a Darth Revan film. With him leaving the jedi order to fight in the Mandalorian Wars, and then become sith, it could be a very entertaining and action packed movie
“This fall…the sith hits the fan.”
Agreed! Love me some KOTOR, and Revan is “da shit fo’ sho’.” Not sure what Dan’s smoking but the only character I’m even slightly interested in seeing in their own movie from his list is the Dash/Shadows of the Empire one. Lando is ok, but I’d prefer to see him in the Han Solo Solo film.
I would like to see a Mara Jade flick, but I’m not sure if the Dark Horse SW books are cannon or not. Two suggestions for the aforementioned hard boiled Lando solo pic; First, make Lobot his sidekick. Second, call it Noir Wars. Peace.
Mara Jade only exists in the books. The EU is not canon.
But they COULD make it canon if they choose to.
I love, for instance the Darth Plagiues book. That needs to be canon. It’s my my hope they pick and choose the occasional story for the “Legends” line to come back to Canon. Although I doubt Mara will return but we’ll see what EP VII dives us about Luke’s kid’s mom.
What I dig about the EU not being canon is that it lets them pick and choose what they like without being beholden to the sprawling continuity they’ve created.
