The Best New TV Heading Our Way in 2016

After the past year that was truly #PeakTV in so many ways—so many amazing shows, so little time in which to watch them—it’s hard to wrap our brains around what we’ve got to look forward to in 2016. With some stellar, major series returns already on the agenda (like Outlander, Game of Thrones, and Orphan Black), the thought of bringing a few new shows into the rotation feels like a task most daunting. But, here’s the thing: there’s a heck of a lot of great freshman series on deck that we’re almost too excited to debut on the small screen. From Luke Cage to Legends of Tomorrow, The Magicians, and Westworld—just to name a few—2016 is quickly becoming a beast of televised pleasures itself.

But in what alternate universe could you possibly have time for it all, eh? Well, that’s where we (meaning myself, Alicia Lutes, and the illustrious Dan Casey) come in: we’ve weathered the screeners, read all the news briefs, and speculated over trailers for weeks and years on end (OK maybe we’re overstating it a bit) to bring you what we oh-so-humbly think are the shows that will need to be on your DVR list this year. It’s a veritable smorgasbord of good timey superhero, supernatural science fiction, comic book calamity, dystopic alter-realities, and even a bit of nostalgia-waxed magic (with some Scorsese for good measure).

So take a peek at our gallery list below — and get into it with Dan Casey in The Dan Cave up above. Because we’re nothing if not afraid of doing you a solid, internet. Of guiding your small screen ship, as it were.
