Thanos wants to destroy half of the universe in Avengers: Infinity War, but does Marvel still want audiences to like the Mad Titan? On today’s Nerdist News Talks Back we discussed just how evil he will be, along with the latest on Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Sega‘s plans to bring back some classic games.
Host Jessica Chobot was back today and she was joined by editor Kyle Anderson, as well as producers Derek Johnson and Jesse Gill. They started with the new novel explaining Thanos’ backstory, including his “monstrous” plan to save the galaxy. If his motivations are understandable but his methods bad, does this mean he won’t be totally evil? Would we prefer if he were? Could Marvel be trying to soften him a little so audiences kind of like him? And now that we know the voices for three members of his Black Order, who do we think will play Corvus Glaive?
We also got a new teaser for Solo, and it focuses on the start of Han and Chewie’s relationship. Is this a good direction for the movie? Were we bummed out by how little we saw of our favorite wookiee in The Last Jedi? Would we have preferred to see Michael K. Williams’ motion-captured crime boss instead of Paul Bettany’s Dryden Vos we’re getting instead? Do we think Boba Fett or Darth Vader could have a cameo in the film? And will Yoda show up again in Episode IX?
Finally, what better way to celebrate Jessica’s return than with some good video game talk, like how Sega Ages will featured the release of 15 classic games. How excited are we about this? What games do we hope are included in the lineup? What does it mean for Nintendo’s virtual console? And will the new Sega Mega Drive Mini be as successful as the NES Classic?
