Terry Crews to Host This Year’s TCA Awards

Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Terry Crews is taking 2014 by storm with every pronounced vein in every bulging muscle that he can possibly show off. A former NFL player, Crews made his way on to both the big and small screens by doing something that many ex-NFL players don’t do: stay in shape and have an undeniably magnetic persona. This year, Crews has gone even further by snatching up hosting gigs for Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? and, most recently, The Television Critics Association Awards.

It’s the 30th edition of the awards and Crews may be their most dynamic host yet. Though, that’s a lofty claim to be made considering that the distinction has also been bestowed on Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele as legendary comedy duo, The Smothers Brothers.

Crews has seen himself go from various character roles in marketing campaigns all the way to The Expendables and the new Golden Globe-winning series, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. TCA president Scott Pierce is thrilled to have Crews on board, remarking, “Terry Crews is a perfect host. His infectious personality is equal parts hilarious, bold, and down-to-earth. His work speaks for itself—from comedy and drama, to sports and reality television, Crews is a diverse talent who can truly do it all.”

That the TCA Awards is an non-televised ceremony that’s strictly invite only, which should make for a more entertaining evening than the usual high wire act that most awards hosts have to pull off during telecasts for The Emmys, Golden Globes, Oscars, or Tonys. Hey, maybe someone will dare to pull a Kanye-esque stunt and try to steal Crews’ thunder. We’d be lying if we said we weren’t looking forward to a little Terry Crews Hulk-out moment.
