TERMINATOR 2 Receives Honest Trailer Upgrade

Before 1991, Terminator wasn’t a franchise. It was just a great action film by director James Cameron that happened to make Arnold Schwarzenegger into a true movie star.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day changed everything. It rewrote the rulebook for Hollywood sequels and it featured revolutionary CGI effects for the menacing T-1000, as played Robert Patrick. It’s also widely regarded as one of the best action movies of all time.

24 years later, Arnold is a lot older, but he’s still starring in the new Terminator film, Terminator Genisys; which will materialize in theaters on July 1. To capitalize on the latest entry into the Terminator mythos, the Honest Trailers team has finally turned their collective eye towards Terminator 2.

As they normally do, the Honest Trailers guys poke holes in the plot of the film and point out that the best thing that Skynet could have done to prevent John Connor’s existence would have been to do nothing at all.

And they’re right… this is the film where Arnold started to become a parody of himself, as exemplified during a supercut within this Honest Trailer. It’s also true that Linda Hamilton is the only Sarah Connor not in Game of Thrones. The Terminator action figure commercial is equally mind-blowing.

Hilariously, the HT team also shines a light on an aspect of Terminator 2 that is often overlooked: Arnold’s T-800 left another arm behind even though the last terminator arm left in the past during the previous film led to Cyberdyne’s advanced research into the killer robots!

Nerdist readers, what’s your take on the new Honest Trailers installment? Did the HT team do justice to Terminator 2? Render a verdict and change the past in the comment section below!
