TEEN WOLF’s Tyler Posey Promises Scott is Back

Gone are the days when Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) doubts himself on Teen Wolf.

After being brought down to his lowest point during the season 5A finale when Theo (Cody Christian) got Scott’s Beta Liam (Dylan Sprayberry) to literally kill Scott, the True Alpha is back to being the leader he was always meant to be. Of course, that doesn’t mean he wasn’t permanently affected by what happened with Liam. As MTV’s supernatural drama has proven season after season, death leaves a mark on the soul.

“We’ll absolutely see side effects from Scott’s death,” Posey told Nerdist on set. “He died for like, 15 minutes, right? That’s a long time, even for a True Alpha. He’s still a really good guy with a really good heart who just wants the best for everyone, but now he’s got this dark edge. He’s got this darkness within him now and it affects his judgments and choices. It forms him more into an adult.”

While it seemed like Scott’s pack had been torn apart for good thanks to Theo’s manipulations, Scott managed to get them all back together by the end of last week’s action-packed episode, minus Lydia (Holland Roden) who is still a captive in Eichen House. But the pack has a plan to break in and help her escape, since they need their Banshee in the fight against the Beast of Gévaudan.

Posey is psyched that he finally got to play Scott as a leader again after he was so low all season long.

“Scott was doubting every step he took in the first half of season five and it’s absolutely the reverse now,” Posey said. “You won’t see Scott doubting himself any more this season which is good. But it definitely takes him time to get there. I was so glad that he finally got out of this funk he was in, because he’s meant to be a leader.”

Could it be Chris Argent’s (J. R. Bourne) influence on Scott helping him reach his true potential?

“Possibly,” Bourne told Nerdist on set. “They have reached this place in their relationship where it’s almost like a father/son dynamic. I think that definitely is a good influence on Scott, because it’s something he’s never really had. It’s also crazy to think about how far they’ve come since season one, when they were almost each other’s nemesis and he was dating my daughter and I was hunting him.”

Even Scott’s current nemesis Theo can see that Scott is back on his game, despite everything Theo did to split up Scott’s pack all season long.

“I’m excited for fans to see the return of Scott McCall,” Christian explained to Nerdist on set. “In the beginning half of season five, he got really down and doubted himself as a leader and the True Alpha that he is. This season, he really finds himself again and brings all that back to the table. And it couldn’t come at a better time, since everyone needs to team up if they want to have a chance at defeating the Beast. No one can do it alone, they all need to work together, which is obviously not going to be easy.”
