TEEN WOLF Cast Dishes on The Beast: the Scariest Villain Yet

Everyone on Teen Wolf is slowly but surely realizing they’re facing their greatest foe yet in the Beast of Gévaudan. This werewolf/chimera may just be an unassuming teen, walking around during the day with no knowledge of the creature it becomes. But the Dread Doctors are hard at work trying to wake the monster within and help it remember its dangerous, lethal history. And Beacon Hills is about to get a good idea of what they’re dealing with in tonight’s jam-packed episode, “The Sword and the Spirit.”

“The Beast is like the Hulk,” series star Tyler Posey tells Nerdist. “It’s the scariest, most unstoppable force that we’ve ever encountered. It’s a chimera, so it’s different from what we’ve ever seen. It’s a genetically-made monster, rather than one who’s been bitten. We have no idea what to make of it or how to stop it so we have to use all the help we can get like both of the Argent men.”

J. R. Bourne, who plays the younger (and more trustworthy) of the Argents, thinks the Beast is the “scariest villain yet” on the show.

“The beasts in the past carry a sense about them that is relevant to that season, specifically, and a threat to that season,” Bourne tells Nerdist. “This season’s beast carries a lot more weight historically and ancestrally speaking. And it’s connected to the Argents in a big way. It’s going to be a great journey for the fans to find out and watch where this stems from. There are some amazing episodes this season that are unlike anything we’ve ever shot. I’m excited for everyone to see the story and the history that we delve into.”

The Beast’s arrival is already making some strange bedfellows in former enemies, like Gerard Argent (Michael Hogan) and his son Chris (Bourne), as well as Theo (Cody Christian) and all of Scott’s pack.

“This is on a whole other scale than any other villain that’s ever been on the show,” Christian tells Nerdist. “The Beast is smart, centuries old, big, scary, and he seems to be unstoppable and can’t be killed. Not by Scott’s pack, not by Theo’s pack. Not even by both packs combined, working together. So the question becomes: How do you stop something that’s unstoppable?”

Although Theo was a villain in the first half of season five, working with the Dread Doctors to make his pack of chimeras, Christian reveals that the former allies might not be seeing eye-to-eye anymore.

“In season 5B, Theo and the Dread Doctors start to see things differently,” Christian says. “I don’t want to spill too much but I can tell you that Theo is no longer buddies with the Dread Doctors. And I’m not sure if he ever was. I think he was using them just as much as they were using him. So they’re not on the best of terms.”

But expect to see Theo and Malia (Shelley Hennig) get closer than ever before in tonight’s episode while Malia continues to hunt down her mother, the Desert Wolf.

“Theo and Malia’s chemistry is definitely still there,” Christian says. “Malia is definitely going to have to get much closer to Theo this season because he has what she needs. She knows Theo is the only means to get what she’s after. It’s so strange because underneath everything, there is this odd chemistry between the two of them. It’s like playing with fire, danger. There’s this really cool scene coming up between the two where we fight. Imagine like a Mr. and Mrs. Smith fight scene with all this tension. It’s so cool. It comes around midseason. We really go at it.”

Something tells us Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) isn’t going to be too thrilled to hear his ex and his nemesis are going to “go at it.” Yikes.
