Tattoo Artist Uses Prosthetic Tattoo Gun to Keep Creating Art

Being a tattoo artist requires both steady hands and absolute precision. Thanks to French artist JL Gonzal, it now only requires a steady HAND (absolute precision is still a must).

Submitted to Reddit by user mike_pants, the above video is from the YouTube page of tattoo artist and owner of Bad Grass Tattoo Gallery JC Sheitan Tenet. Gonzal took an existing prosthesis, and while it looks like something Furiosa would use in Mad Max: Fury Road to take on the War Boys, it helps Tenet continue his work with his dominant arm. According to the video, Gonzal took metal bits and added them to the tattoo machine. So, when  the machine is hooked to the prosthesis, the artist can adjust it as needed, depending on the type of tattoo he is creating.

However, don’t go looking for this type of equipment to be market ready just at the moment. Tenet says that his apparatus is an “exhibition version.” He has to use disposable needles and cartridges, and the process of taking it apart, cleaning it, and putting it back together is time-consuming. It’s not ready for everyday use. Not that you necessarily wanted everyone on the planet to have tattoo-needle arms, but it’s still an amazing creation, showing what can be done with some creativity and ambition.

You can check out more of JL Gonzal’s work on his website, and you can see more of Tenet’s tattoos at Instagram.

So what do you think? Are innovation and ingenuity leading us into the future? Or are we just getting closer and closer to being plugged into the Matrix (if we aren’t already there)? Let us know in the comments below.
