Swedish Fish Oreo Dessert Lasagna Is a Thing… We’re Sorry

Oreo is going to great lengths to create new and innovative flavors, so when they announced their new Swedish Fish Oreo flavor, we were intrigued. Does it taste like candy or cookie? How does gummy mesh with chocolate? Will this be the world’s best combination or a horrifying nightmare?

Honestly, eating just one Swedish Fish Oreo will suffice, so what do you do with a leftover package of the world’s sweetest, candy-fish-flavored cookie? Make a dessert lasagna, obviously! In the words of Dr. Ian Malcolm, we were so preoccupied with whether or not we could that we didn’t stop to think if we should. Well, we did, and you can watch the whole thing on this week’s Put This In Your Mouth.

Swedish Fish Oreo Dessert Lasagna
ingredients:
2 packages Swedish Fish Oreos, reserve one cup for topping
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
Pinch of salt
2 (8-ounce) tubs whipped topping

Topping ingredients:
1 cup Swedish Fish candy to decorate
1 cup Swedish Fish Oreos, crushed

Sauce ingredients:
1 cup Swedish Fish candy
1/4 cup water

Prep a 7”x11” pan with parchment paper.

Onto the bottom of the prepped pan, place 9 individual Swedish Fish Oreo cookies. Set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer stir the cream cheese, powdered sugar and salt until combined. Fold in the whipped topping. Pour over the layered cookies.

Place another layer of 9 cookies on top of the cream cheese mixture, then top with a second container of whipped topping.

Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours before serving.

When ready to serve, decorate the top of with Swedish Fish candy and crushed Oreos.

In an oven-proof measuring cup, microwave the Swedish Fish candies and water together at 30-second intervals, stirring until melted. Slice the dessert and serve with the candy sauce.
