Summer Fun: Human-Sized Water Ballon Bursts in Slow-Mo

Four years ago Gavin Free and pal Dan Gruchy used their YouTube channel The Slow-Mo Guys to show us what it looks like when a giant 6 ft water balloon filled with water pops in super slow motion. This month, they reignite our interest in the art of giant balloon popping and ups the ante by filling the giant balloon not just with water, but with 6 feet of human (Dan) as well!

The process begins simple enough, because it’s not all that difficult to fill a balloon with water, no matter what size said balloon happens to be. It does get tougher, however, when you try to fit a tall man into a balloon which has not reached it’s optimum point of entry. Once Dan is in the balloon, though, the only thing he, and we, need to do is wait. The plan is to fill the balloon past its maximum fill point rather than try to use force to burst it. Having Gavin jump on the giant red water bomb with Dan inside wouldn’t be good times for anyone. The two fellas jumping on an uninhabited balloon, like in their first bout, though… that is indeed good times.

At the halfway point, Dan does indeed look like Jabba The Hutt as Gavin points out. Well, the color scheme may be off, but he certainly has a shapely Hutt-esque silhouette, minus the tail.

Here’s the original video from a few years back:

Which version would you like to try (in a very supervised and safe manner, of course) in your own back yard? Inside the balloon, or outside? Sound off below or with us on Twitter!
