STREET FIGHTER V’s New Character Is Essentially Thicc Abe Lincoln

If there’s one figure from American history that people love reimagining in modern or alternate scenarios, it’s Abraham Lincoln. Maybe it’s his look—tall and lanky, with the beard, the hat, and such distinct facial features—or maybe it’s because of how important he was to the development of the United States. Whatever the reason, Lincoln has so far been retooled to be a vampire hunter, has found his way into Adventure Time, and of course has made himself known in the Star Trek canon. And now, there is a new take on Lincol to add to the list… sort of.

A new character is being added to Street Fighter V, and he sure does have the distinct aura of the Great Emancipator (via Mashable).

Although this character is never explicitly referred to as Lincoln here in his introduction video, it’s pretty clear who the so-called “G” is modeled after. He is officially described thusly: “G is a mysterious new character who wishes to unify the world as its president. He decides to spread his message in the ways the modern world can understand: Through social media.” The major differences between G and Honest Abe include his level of ripped-ness, his sleeveless suit, and his blond beard. So this isn’t quite Lincoln, but really, it so is.

There’s a bonus here for hip-hip fans as well: The trailer features a new song called “President of the World” by producer Dan The Automator and rapper Del The Funky Homosapien, the latter being the rapper in Gorillaz’s hit “Clint Eastwood.” The pair makes up two thirds of Deltron 3030.

What do you think of buff Lincoln? Will you be fighting with him? Let us know what you’re thinking down in the comments!
