STREET FIGHTER V Plagued with Tons of Technical Issues

Though the three day weekend (if you were lucky enough to have one, that is) was relaxing, this week is packed with new games, betas, and updates. In today’s Gaming Daily, characters have been mysteriously disappearing from Street Fighter V‘s roster on PS4, Sony is offering free access to multiplayer on the PS4 this weekend, Ubisoft revealed more information about The Division‘s open beta, and the DICE Summit is currently underway, with Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro slated to speak tomorrow.

Street Fighter V

Street Fighter V is having serious technical issues.

Welp. I think at this point, it’s safe to say that Street Fighter V‘s launch has been far from smooth. In fact, it’s been downright abysmal. Not only are there elements missing, but they’ve also had a ton of technical issues. According to reports around the web, players have been experiencing problems with online connectivity, matchmaking, Fighter ID corruption, and more. The strangest issue, however, is probably the disappearance of characters from the roster.

As I’m sure you’re well aware, there are 16 playable characters in total. For some reason, players have been taking to social media to report that fighters are actually missing once from the character select screen. Most of the tweets mirror the one above. At the time of writing, there is no explanation for why this is happening, but we’re assuming it is connected to the server issues.

Capcom has reportedly resolved several of the issues already. So far, the fixes that have pushed out relate to the intermittent connectivity and matchmaking issues. As for the Fighter ID corruption issues, and the game boot/crashing issues, the company says it is aware of the problems and is already working on fixing and update the game.

Considering the release doesn’t include an arcade mode (player v CPU), and the only things you can do at the moment are play the story, participate in online matches, and mess around in training mode, the server issues aren’t a good look. Here’s  hoping they get resolved soon.

Ubisoft provides more details for The Division‘s open beta.

With The Division‘s open beta set to launch tomorrow (on Xbox One) and Friday (on PS4), Sony couldn’t have had better timing with their free multiplayer announcement. Following its official announcement last week, Ubisoft hit the web today with additional details about the beta, including a list of what time you’ll be able to start playing. Check out the list below.

  • Start time for Xbox One players: Thursday, February 18 – 9am GMT / 10am CET / 1am PST / 4am EST.
  • Start time for PS4 and PC players: Friday, February 19 – 9am GMT / 10am CET / 1am PST / 4am EST.

The developer also revealed that players are able to start pre-loading the beta starting today. The download is a hefty 27 GB, but if you were in the closed beta, all you’ll need to download is a 1.6 GB patch.

The full game is set to release on March 8.
