Gaming Daily: Hideo Kojima and Norman Reedus Reunite

We’ve got another crazy week of video game launches and betas ahead of us, so let’s not waste any time getting into the latest news. In tonight’s Gaming Daily, Hideo Kojima and Norman Reedus have reunited post-Silent Hills debacle, Sega is giving away games for free on Steam, and Capcom releases the official launch trailer for Street Fighter V. Let’s do this!

Kojima and Reedus reunited

If the cancellation of Silent Hills is still weighing heavy on your mind, the following will likely sting a bit, so you may want to skip to the next story. Hideo Kojima posted a picture of himself reunited with Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) via Twitter today, leaving everyone to bear in mind the agonizing thought of what could have been. Kojima can be such a tease sometimes!

There isn’t any news to go along with this photo, but that’s not to say a collaboration between these two isn’t possible. Kojima did just open up a brand spanking new studio, and clearly stated he was giving Reedus an update on his new company. Fingers crossed for these two linking up for a new project! Hell, we may have a better chance at seeing these two work together than getting Half-Life 3 at this point.

Sega sells games for free on Steam

They say the best things in life are free. As a former (and possibly still current) Sega fanboy, color me ecstatic about Sega offering some of their best classics for free on Steam. If you log on right now, you can get the following games for absolutely nothing but several mouse clicks:

Golden Axe
Jet Set Radio
Sega Collections
Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit

This is just the first of a few free bundles that Sega will be dropping on Valve’s storefront. Streets of Rage II, Binary Domain, and Gunstar Heroes will all become available in the near future. These are definitely worth checking out—especially if you’re brand new to video games and looking for a quick history lesson on several of this medium’s most renowned franchises.

Street Fighter V launch trailer

The Capcom team has released a new trailer to increase the excitement around Street Fighter V, which officially launched today. The trailer (viewable above) touts the game’s new variable battle system, the ability to earn DLC characters free of charge, and cross platform play between the PC and PS4. Sounds like a lot, doesn’t it? Well, don’t get too excited yet.

Street Fighter V has gotten off to a rocky start since releasing today (Tuesday). Not only does the game appear to be missing a sizable portion of content, but the Capcom Fighter Network—the game’s online component—has made it immensely difficult for anyone to partake in online battles. Given that online matches make up most of this game’s core content, this has led to quite a bit of disappointment from fans. Be sure to stay tuned for our full review of the game this week.

That about wraps it for Tuesday’s Gaming Daily. Always keep it parked here on Nerdist for all of the juicy video game developments, and to chat about our beloved medium, I’m only one tweet away: @Malik4play.
