STRANGER THINGS 3 Will Have More Dad Steve

It’s never too soon for updates on Stranger Things 3. The executive producer has indicated we’ll get more of Dad Steve. Thank goodness. We discuss the next season on today’s Nerdist News Talks Back along with an anonymous source’s comments about Solo‘s director swap and what we thought of Pacific Rim Uprising.

Guest host Hector Navarro was joined today by Geek and Sundry‘s Erika Ishii, Nerdist News writer Joey Clift, and producer Derek Johnson. They started with Vulture‘s article about the change in directors on Solo–from Chris Miller and Phil Lord to Ron Howard–and how their approaches to filming were different.

We also got some new hints about the third season of Stranger Things thanks to comments from executive producer Shawn Levy to The Hollywood Reporter. He mentioned Back to the Future in his remarks, and more importantly, that more “Dad Steve” is coming. Levy said, “I’ll just say we won’t be abandoning the Dad Steve magic. I don’t want to say much more, but I literally feel that we were walking along and we stumbled onto a gold mine with Dad Steve.” Is there such a thing as too much Dad Steve?

Finally, Pacific Rim Uprising rose up and unseated Black Panther at the box office this weekend. What did we think of it? And how did John Boyega do taking over for Idris Elba?

Remember Nerdist News Talks Back airs live on our YouTube and Alpha channels every Monday through Thursday at 1 p.m. PT, followed by Nerdist News What the Fridays to end the week in pop culture at 1 p.m. PT, only at Alpha.

We still want to hear from you, so talk back to us about today’s show in the comments below.
