STRANGER THINGS Season 2’s New Team Member Revealed!

When Stranger Things returns for its second season later this year, there are a few new faces coming to Hawkins, Indiana. We’ve got new love interests, new villains, and even a new member of our favorite band of adventurous kids. While we’re counting the days to the season 2 premiere in October, today’s Nerdist News is offering up a first look at the new girl in Stranger Things and turning audience expectations upside down!

Join your host, and the last person to successfully slay a Demogorgon, Jessica Chobot, as she puts Max in the spotlight. You may recall that Max’s name was revealed in the Stranger Things season 2 announcement trailer, and that actress Sadie Sink was cast in the role. One of the newly released season 2 photos features Sink as Max while she watches Winona Ryder‘s Joyce do what moms do best: embarrassing their children at school. Max has been called a “tough tomboy,” but that’s not necessarily what we’re seeing in this pic. We think that the Duffer Brothers may have more in mind for Max than her initially simple description suggests.

That’s not all! We’ve got reasons to believe that the Duffers may also be playing off our assumptions about the new characters played by Sean Astin and Paul Reiser. Because who would ever mistrust Samwise Gamgee? And would anyone turn their back on Carter Burke from Aliens? That’s exactly the point. We’re automatically assuming that Astin’s Bob is gonna be a stand up guy and Reiser’s Dr. Owens is the next villain. But what if it’s the other way around? Also, we’re hearing something even stranger: is it possible there’s a third Duffer brother?!
