STRANGER THINGS Teaser Reveals Season 2 Premiere Date and More TV News

Promos and television spots dropped at a speedy rate on Sunday thanks to the Super Bowl. If you blinked and missed some of the TV ads, I have your back in today’s TV-Cap. We’ll take a look at the teaser for season two of Stranger Things, a new ad for The Walking Dead, a Samurai Jack promo (that wasn’t aired during the game), and more.

Eggo Fight. When season two of Stranger Things arrives on Netflix, there will be plenty of weirdness and hopefully Eggo frozen waffles ahead (I love how the teaser comes with a retro commercial). The Demogorgon wasn’t the only threat to our world. Nah, the brief tease shows something bigger out there. Much. Bigger. We’ll get to go back to the Upside Down later this year on Halloween. Line ‘Em Up. With Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor heading out of Doctor Who‘s TARDIS after series 10, it seems like a fine time to look back at his time in the role. Kyle A. has a ranking of all the episodes in series eight right here at Nerdist.

Coffee Forever. Coffee was a fixture of the original run of Twin Peaks. No, really. Agent Dale Cooper has strong feelings about the delicious substance. Showtime’s released a supercut of coffee mentions and drinking to promote that they’re airing the series two episodes at a time on Sunday nights. They started February 5. This will, of course, lead into the May 21 premiere of their continuation of Twin Peaks. [Nerdist]

From Sandals to Spandex? Kevin Sorbo, best known for his role in Hercules, is slated to appear in Supergirl in a recurring role in season two. He’ll be playing a villain. Maybe his character will be working with Teri Hatcher’s? [IGN]

Jack’s Back. If there’s one thing I like about Samurai Jack, it’s how understated the animation can be–well, understated while still being bold and big. Anyway, the show returns on March 11, and Adult Swim has released the vaguest of vague teasers. [CBR]

That Didn’t Take Long. Last week I mentioned Fox passed on a pilot for the Greg Berlanti produced Black Lightning. Berlanti took it to The CW for a look, and The CW has placed a pilot order for the DC Comics-inspired drama. [Deadline]

Sports + Lucille. The Walking Dead‘s Super Bowl spot combined football with zombies. The brief ad shows Negan’s getting aggressive with his beloved bat Lucille, as usual, and reminding viewers of the February 12 return of the show. [Deadline]

Growing Up. With kids, you measure their growth by drawing lines above their heads on walls and doors. With CGI dragons, you measure growth by how large their rig has become—and it looks like Drogon’s rig has become bigger for season seven of Game of Thrones. They’re in the process of filming and a fan in Belfast spotted a huge green mass that looks like the next rig for Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys to ride as Drogon continues to grow up. See photos at Winter Is Coming.

What Does Better Mean? Hulu’s dropped a new trailer for The Handmaid’s Tale, and it depicts a harsh world. But even with the oppression and threatening undertone, Elisabeth Moss’ Offred gives me a sense of hope. The series arrives on April 26. [TVLine]
