First Look At STRANGER THINGS 3 Reveals More Than You Think

2018 is going to be a skip year for Stranger Things on Netflix, but our return trip to mid-80s Hawkins is set for 2019. Netflix has dropped the first teaser for Stranger Things 3 in the form of a TV commercial for a mall. In fact, it could have easily passed for the real ’80s television ad if we hadn’t seen a familiar face working at the new ice cream store. Today’s Nerdist News is jumping back into the Upside Down to illuminate several potential clues in this video which may hold the key to Stranger Things 3.

Join host and mind flayer slayer, Jessica Chobot, as she takes us into the most happening ice cream shop of 1985: Scoops Ahoy! Naturally, Steve’s new job will likely be a featured location in Stranger Things 3, but his new friend also seems to have a big part in the latest storyline. Her name is Robin, played by Maya Hawke. When Hawke was cast in the series, Robin was described as a girl who wants to find some excitement in her dull life, at least before she stumbles upon one of Hawkins’ dark secrets.

If there’s anyone who’s going to be sympathetic to Robin’s dilemma, it’s going to be Steve. After all, he does have a lot of experience dealing with otherworldly weirdness. We wouldn’t be shocked if Robin and Steve also form a deeper connection, since he’s no longer seeing Nancy. Additionally, there is a kind of weird Dawn of the Dead vibe from this video, which makes us wonder if we’ll see the Hawkins gang facing monsters in the mall.

The video indicates that the mall is opening “next summer,” but it’s probably a not-so-subtle way to announce that Stranger Things 3 is coming in summer 2019. That seems like a very long wait, but hopefully Stranger Things 4 will be in production by then.
