Stormtroopers Dance in Times Square

As a Red Sox fan, I’ve known for years that the Evil Empire resides in New York, but even I’m stunned at this blatant display of intimidation by the Emperor. I mean, dancing in Times Square, in a children’s toy store no less? Is nothing sacred anymore? Can’t a member of the Rebel Alliance shop for LEGO in peace?

Actually it’s all a lot less sinister than that. These dancing soldiers were just a promotional part of the tidal wave of movie merchandise known as Force Friday. This was just part of the promotion at the Toys R Us in Times Square. A Stormtroupe if you will.

None of this should be surprising, as we all remember when Lama Su explained to Obi-Wan how some of the clones were genetically designed to lead, some to follow, and some to dance. I mean, how else can you explain all of this?

I know the soldiers of the clone army didn’t really have parents (just some long-necked creators), so who do they go to when they have to explain why they are dropping out of the army to follow their dream of being a dancer? Was it easier to make a living that way a long, long time ago? It doesn’t seem like it was, at least based on what we’ve seen of job security for dancers then.

What was the best promotion you saw on Force Friday? Share it with us, we’ll just be talking to people about enjoying something as it happens instead of feeling the need to record it on their phone.
