Stop-Motion Transformers Video Proves The ’80s Are Alive And Well

If you were a kid of the 1980s, or early part of the 1990s, then playing out episodes of your favorite cartoon and TV shows was common practice. Harris Loureiro has decided to do one better with his extensive collection of classic Transformers toys. Harris has not only created his own episode-length adventure for the Autobots and Decepticons over on YouTube, but has also filmed it as a stop-motion video complete with music, sound effects, and voice acting. Transformer Generation perfectly captures the spirit and style of the 1980s cartoon, and is a welcome trip back in time for any fan of the robots in disguise.

I’ve said it before, and I’m sure I will say it again at some point: stop-motion animation baffles me. I always find it entertaining knowing just how much time and effort has to go into creating it, and can respect that much love and devotion to a craft. The blend of stop-motion and CGI in Harris’s video helps create a more fluid feel to the transformation sequences and fight scenes, but also adds an endearing, cheesy quality with fire and explosion effects that adds to the 80s cartoon charm. Imagine that, a Transformers film with less-impressive explosions is actually more fun to watch than any of the Michael Bay films that have come out. I, for one, would watch more of these if Loureiro chose to make them.

What do you think of the video? Would you be interested in a series, or is it best not to overdo? Let us know in the comments below.
