Will STEVEN UNIVERSE’s Villains and Heroes Team Up?

Warning: The following contains major spoilers for Steven Universe. Proceed with caution!

Steven Universe‘s recent shocking revelation, which changed everything we know about the show and sent fans into a frenzy, only added to a series that already boasted endlessly rich lore. Now that the incredible truth about the relationship of some of its most important characters has been revealed, what does that mean for the battle between good and evil going forward? Could it lead to the unthinkable? Could the show’s villains join up with its heroes? Animation Investigation is on the case.

On this week’s episode of our series dedicated to all things ‘toon, host Hector Navarro looks back through the history of the beloved series—including the most recent episode which was screened at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con—to try and learn if there is any chance Blue and Yellow Diamond could end up joining the Crystal Gems after the stunning truth about Rose Quartz, Pink Diamond, and Steven himself blurred the lines between the good guys and the bad. Is this all going to end with the most powerful fusion of strength in the universe?

Considering how much seemingly unforgivable destruction Blue and Yellow Diamond have wrought over the years, the idea of this pair even being accepted by the Crystal Gems is far from a certainty, and that’s before asking if they even want to be. Although with an even more terrifying force out there, they might not have a choice. And it certainly wouldn’t be the first time Steven Universe gave us an amazing redemption story.

What do you think? Are the big baddies about to team up with the good guys? Tell us why in the comments below.
