Stephen Colbert Predicts the Plot of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

Although The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was on break when the latest trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was shown during Monday Night Football, Stephen Colbert was ready and waiting to weigh in on one of his favorite franchises by predicting the plot of the new film. You see, Colbert is the O.G. Star Wars fan, having seen the original movie two weeks before anyone else at a pre-screening to which he won tickets to when he was in the eighth grade. So we trust his opinions on the films as he’s been working with a fourteen day head start since 1977.

His predictions seem completely viable and you can tell there’s sincerity behind the bit. Suggesting the Resistance is in a slow shift to the dark side and the “new new hope” is Boyega’s “Finn” pointing out that the Empire was never entirely tied to the Dark Side itself.

“So I predict that dark becomes light, light becomes dark, the very fabric of The Force is stretched to its limit as a new generation emerges to tear down the false distinctions of the past and unite all of us…”

A fairly believable idea and one that would seem right at home as a J.J. Abrams’ plot. Colbert’s claims might be a bit drastic since he thinks this will bring together all sorts of people throughout the universe, including moisture farmers and scruffy-looking nerf herders. But that old saying exists for a reason: “Moisture farmers are from Tatooine, nerf herders are from other planets, we suspect, since Leia never really specified” They’re just too different!

Could Colbert have predicted the exact plot? If he did, can you imagine the bit he runs after the movie premieres? Let us know what you think will happen in the new film in the comments below!
