Behold Galactus, The Devourer of Worlds! As portrayed by none other than comic book fan and big time geek, Stephen Colbert.
Itâs hard to predict what Colbert will do next as he heads towards his new gig: the host of CBSâ The Late Show. One week, Colbert could be taking over public access television with Eminem, and the next week he could be talking about Pluto with Neil deGrasse Tyson.
This time, Colbert is starring in a five-part series of videos as your best lunch buddy at work. Rest assured, itâs a pretty one-sided conversation.
But first, Colbert kicked off the video with a selfie while wearing a paper Galactus hat that was inspired by the classic Marvel Comics character. This is no space cloud! This was inspired by Galactus, the giant dude in a purple outfit as Jack Kirby and Stan Lee intended!

Colbert has proudly flown his geek flag in the past. While he was still the host of The Colbert Report, former Marvel Comics Editor-in-chief, Joe Quesada presented Colbert with a replica of Captain Americaâs shield that was proudly displayed on the set of the show until its conclusion earlier this year.
Stephen Colbert’s Tek Jansen Adventures was also adapted as a comic book series by Oni Press and Colbert even appeared as himself in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man # 573. Colbert was also the voice of Reducto and Phil Ken Sebben in the early seasons of Harvey Birdman, and the voice of Professor Richard Impossible on the first two seasons of The Venture Bros. on Adult Swim.
Colbertâs tenure on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will begin on September 8, 2015.
