STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Trailer Plays Up the Mysticism

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Trailer Plays Up the Mysticism

To think, it was only two years ago that the world caught its first glimpse of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim. Now we’re back again, our faces glued to yet another panel livestream, crying our eyes out over a completely new teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Funny how life works like that.

The trailer opens similar to the way that The Force Awakens one did, with one of our new heroes — Rey instead of Finn this time — gasping for breath. However, it’s not a mystery why: she’s training with Luke Skywalker, learning about “light,” “darkness,” and “the balance.” Except, is she actually training to be a Jedi this time? Given that Luke ends the trailer with with the ominous line “I only know one truth: it’s time for the Jedi to end…” it’s hard to say. We also got some glimpses of Finn, Poe, General Leia, Kylo Ren, BB-8, Captain Phasma (she’s back! Hooray!), and some killer Resistance vs. First Order battles. No sign of any of the new characters yet, though — guess we’ll have to wait a while longer to meet Kelly Marie Tran, a.k.a. Rose.

Speaking of which, director Rian Johnson also released this killer teaser poster for the movie, which features Luke, Kylo Ren, and Rey in a pretty iconic pose:
