STAR WARS Fans Are Split Over RESISTANCE

This fall, Star Wars Resistance will take the animated realm into the sequel trilogy era for the first time. The new show has been largely under wraps, but the first trailer has been unleashed and it’s gotten a few interesting reactions online. There are fans who praised Resistance‘s anime-style CGI as well as observers who are angry that Disney and Lucasfilm are targeting kids with the new series. Today’s Nerdist News is drawing upon a sampling of fan response to Resistance and what it may mean for the show.

Join host and Master Codebreaker, Jessica Chobot, as she walks us through the two sides of Resistance reactions. At least one fan expressed relief that admirers of the sequel trilogy will finally have a show of their own. Several viewers added their appreciation for Resitance‘s visuals. And yet there’s also a faction that seemed to immediately hate Resistance simply for existing. They also shouted about the audacity of putting the show on the Disney Channel.

If the negative push back for Star Wars Resistance stems solely from the fact it’s geared towards a younger audience, then that’s not a very good reason. Both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels had the same stigma attached early in their respective runs before their stories matured and their characters were placed in increasingly complex situations. We fully expect Resistance to follow a similar path as the series progresses.
