We didn’t get much news about Star Wars Episode VII at San Diego Comic-Con, but the expo hall was flooded with all things from a galaxy far, far away. Not only did we see some pretty impressive Star Wars cosplay, but many artists tried their hand at reimagining the beloved series. One such artist I stumbled upon was Albert Nguyen, who gave the sci-fi series a rather historic look.
Nguyen pays homage to Star Wars using historical paintings for inspiration, such as Emanuel Leutze’s Washington Crossing the Delaware, as well as the iconic photo Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima photographed by Joe Rosenthal.

My favorite of the bunch has to be the Boba Fett portrait modeled after Clint Eastwood in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. The bounty hunter actually looks like a fearsome wanderer in this even though we can’t see his facial features. It’s a rather inquisitive moment captured. I won’t get into the art historical specifics though, don’t worry. Just know that it’s awesome and I want it lining my walls.
