STAR WARS Meets GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY In This New Mash-up

With Rian Johnson landing the directing gig for Star Wars: Episode VIII, and Jon Spaihts nabbing the script gig for Doctor Strange, it’s been a busy week for both of Disney’s two major franchise acquisitions. But that’s okay, because if there’s one thing we love, it’s Star Wars and Marvel news… but do we love those things together?

Last month, we exposed you to the YouTube account of Ross Thompson, a fantastic editor who was spending is free time making fan videos of some of our favorite properties set to various Power Rangers theme songs. But, now it seems Thompson’s getting into the mash-up game with his new Guardians of the Galaxy inspired trailer for Star Wars:

For comparison, here is the Guardians trailer:

If there’s one thing this proves, it’s how much you can do with just a few simple re-edits. By just shifting and combining a few key lines of dialogue with some modern music, the results are highly entertaining. Our favorite part is, of course, when the trailer switches into its name cards with Blue Swede’s “Hooked on a Feeling” playing in the background. That’s the moment that really sells this thing more than anything else.

As far as ways to spend a Sunday go, this is definitely one of the better options. It’s not often you find reason to get excited for a Star Wars AND Marvel film at the same time, and we like the fuzzy feeling that gives us inside.

Would you watch this movie if it were released today? Do you think Guardians will be just the thing space opera fans crave until Star Wars comes out? Let us know in the comments below!

    So good !

  2. Really? No scene from the prison block?

    “Boring conversation anyway.

Luke, we’re going to have company!”

I mean, if that’s not probably the funniest scene in the whole series, I’m not sure what is.

Which reminds me: was there ANYTHING actually funny in EP1-3?

I don’t get it. Any similarities are simply in your mind.
