STAR WARS’ “General Grievous Theme” Gets a Fitting Metal Drum Cover

How do you pay musical tribute to one of the most feared warriors in that galaxy far, far away? Well, when it’s the Kaleesh cyborg and Commander of the Separatists droid army, you do it with a–what else?–metal cover of the “General Grievous Theme.”

This is the third and final installment from musician Lorne Ahmed in his Star Wars Drum Cover Trilogy, following his great version of the “Duel of the Fates” (we’re still waiting for someone to set it to Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon’s fight with Darth Maul) and his rocking take on The Force Awakens‘ “March of the Resistance.” But since everybody knows you have to make things bigger and better the further along you get in a franchise, this time he invited along friend and guitarist Ethan Baker. If you are going to cover the “General Grievous Theme,” it is only fitting that you have some shredding involved.

You can compare this drum and guitar cover to the original song from Revenge of the Sith here.

The only downside to this song is that it’s the end of the trilogy, but there are so many other tracks from John Williams that would sound great with a kick-ass drum cover, especially his songs for the Empire and the First Order. But hey, once upon a time we only had three Star Wars movies, and now look where we are. Keep dreaming, folks.

What other Star Wars songs do you think would make for a great drum cover? Rock out in our comments section below with your best ideas.
