Through the first two Star Wars trilogies, it was a tradition for the look of the main characters to evolve over the course of three movies. That trend will continue later this year in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which will pick up where The Force Awakens left off. While it’s anyone’s guess when the first trailer for Episode VIII will drop, Lucasfilm and Disney have offered up the first glimpse of Rey, Finn, and Poe’s new costumes from The Last Jedi!
In the official announcement for Force Friday II on StarWars.com, the new toy packaging for The Last Jedi gave us a tantalizing preview of what’s ahead for Poe, Rey, and Finn.
Of the three, Poe appears to have the fewest changes to his look, although we do have to wonder why he’s wearing his helmet in this shot. Rey appears to have embraced her Jedi destiny (or is that heritage?) by adding some black to her outfit and letting her hair down. Even in this pic, it’s a striking departure for her, and we like it! As for Finn, he doesn’t appear to be too badly hurt after his encounter with Kylo Ren. He’s still got Poe’s old jacket, but he’s traded in his Storm Trooper issue undershirt for a new white shirt that wouldn’t be out of place in Han Solo’s closet.
Naturally, we can probably expect Finn, Rey, and Poe to undergo more than one costume change during the film. But we suspect that these will be their primary outfits within the story. Force Friday II will occur on September 1, and it will feature the reveal of several new toys from The Last Jedi as well as clothing, books, statues, and other merchandise associated with the film. We’re also likely to see more of the new and returning characters at that time.
