KFC’s Fried Chicken-Scented Firelog Already Sold Out

Sad Update: Like a shining star of hope that represents all that is, was, and will forever be good in the world, the KFC Firelog sold out in a matter of hours. All that remains for those of us not lucky enough to nab one ourselves is the feint aroma of a dream. A dream of 11 herbs and spices.

Something about sitting by a roaring fire is magical. Whether you’re out under the stars on a cold night, bundled up by the fireplace with a hot cup of cocoa, or even out on the beach feeling the ocean breeze, nothing is quite like basking in the warm glow of a peaceful fire. And now one fast food giant made the experience even better, because you can turn your fire into an inferno of flavors, with the KFC 11 Herbs and Spices Firelog.

This delectable product, that we learned about at The Inventory, will make any fire smell like some good old fashioned Kentucky Fried Chicken. This limited-time only, five-pound log from KFC and Enviro-Log is “made of 100 percent recycled materials” and “imbued with the unmistakable, mouth-watering aroma of Colonel Sanders’ secret recipe.”

At $18.99 you can only get one per order (how is there no eight-piece option?!), but if you’re hoping to save yours for the perfect, finger-licking night, the log can be safely stored. It has no shelf life. We recommend keeping it away from pets or hungry drunk people. When you do fire your KFC log up, it will burn for two-and-a-half to three hours.

If you act fast you can get one in time for the holidays (they ship within five business days). Not only would this be a great gift for someone special (or yourself), it would be one hell of an incentive to get Santa to visit your house early this Christmas Eve. We’d go down a chimney any day of the year if it smelled like fried chicken.

KFC and Enviro-Log do have some warnings though, and they should be taken seriously for obvious reasons:

  • “May result in a craving for fried chicken.”
  • “We know the fire log smells great, but please do not attempt to eat it.”
  • “May attract bears or neighbors who are hungry.”
  • “Please don’t put face directly into fire in attempt to smell fried chicken.”

We promise nothing. We loved sitting around a nice fire when it smelled like fire; we might not be able to handle ourselves around one that smells like KFC fried chicken.
