New Aliens and Planets in Photos from STAR WARS Set Photos

Filming on Star Wars: Episode VIII is well underway in Croatia, with sneaky spies and dastardly drones doing their darnedest to grab a sneak peek of director Rian Johnson‘s exclusive new set. A couple of weeks ago, we got our first glimpse of some lit-up arches on the Dubrovnik set, implying that we’d get some scenes set in an actual city for the next Star Wars sequel episode. And now that filming has actually started on those sets, they’re looking even cooler than before.

Photos have revealed first looks at covered up land speeders, roads being built in Ireland, and a veritable cornucopia of new alien species for us to feast our eyes upon. What do those aliens look like? What will they be filming in Ireland? We’re assuming Luke and Rey will have an extended training montage on that beehive hut island—right?

Join Jessica Chobot as we take a look at all of the different leaks and try to glean as much about the plot as possible from these images of cities, speeders, aliens, and planets, on today’s Nerdist News.

Thanks for watching today’s show! Check out all of our coverage of SXSW, including recaps of our panels and interviews from the Nerdist Saloon at Bangers Sausage House and Beer Garden.

Let us know in the comments below if you like the look of the Dubrovnik set! Who do you think will be in that land speeder chase? What do you think of these new aliens? When will we get to see Benicio Del Toro’s villain?!
