STAR TREK Transporter Pad Coasters: A Fun Way to Beam Up Responsible Habits

Captain’s Log, Stardate…I don’t know, it must be 5 o’clock somewhere in the universe, right? Whatever. Anyway, we were going to beam down at the end of our shift and throw back a few Romulan ales and some Klingon Wine Blood, but we decided to stay on the ship-thingy and wouldn’t you know it Riker had a few too many and put his drink down right on my beautiful coffee table without a coaster and now the whole thing is ruined. He’s the Number One jerk.

You have got to respect wood. Which means you have got to have coasters, but you can alleviate some of the tension that comes with chiding your irresponsible friends for their reckless ways by offering them these awesome, light-up Star Trek coasters to use.

These Star Trek Transporter Pad LED coasters, available at ThinkGeek, are touch-sensitive and, not only do they light-up (and temporarily light up your drink) when you use them, they play the easily-recognized transporter sound effects when you place your drink on them or pick it back up. (If that sounds like it will get annoying you can turn the sound off.) They come four to a set and will run you 30 dollars.

You can’t put a price on a great night spent with friends, but you definitely can put a cost on trying to get that stain out of your end table, so why not beam yourself up these coasters instead?

What would be the most fitting drink to place on one of these? Beam your answers into the comments below.
