STAR TREK: MISSION NEW YORK Fan Experience Will Celebrate 50 Years of the Series

Although it seems like everything’s been all about Star Wars lately, 2016 marks the 50th Anniversary of that other legendary science-fiction franchise, Star Trek. Gene Roddenberry’s original television series first premiered on September 8, 1966, although at the time no one could have imagined this little, low-budget show would launch one of the longest running ongoing sci-fi narratives of all time.

Now CBS Consumer Products (owners of the TV portion of the franchise) and ReedPOP, the world’s largest producer of pop culture events, are teaming up to launch an all-new original Star Trek fan experience with Star Trek: Mission New York. This three-day event, which will take place September 2-4 at the Javits Center in Manhattan, will be the ultimate celebration of all things Trek. The convention will be filled with interactive exhibits, exclusive merchandise, celebrity guests, panels, screenings, and a whole lot more.  With the new Star Trek television series starting up in January 2017, expect announcements about the future of the franchise throughout this convention.

The first ever Star Trek convention took place in New York City in 1972 at the Statler Hotel, which is now the Hotel Pennsylvania, so it’s only fitting that Mission New York should take place in the Big Apple. Originally planned for 500 guests, but ultimately drawing in over 3,ooo, that original event started a series of conventions that continue to this day. It’s said that every weekend, there’s a Star Trek convention happening somewhere in the world.

Additional details about the event including ticket sales, hotel information, guests and exhibitors will be revealed in the coming weeks. For more information, check out www.StarTrekMissions.com and the Star Trek: Mission New York social media pages (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
