STAR TREK Cosmetics Line Coming From MAC

I love that we live in a world of multiple nerd-branded cosmetics lines. Not only did last year see the debut of a Star Wars cosmetics line from Covergirl, it wasn’t that long ago that MAC Cosmetics debuted a Wonder Woman cosmetics line. Thank the maker that the powers-that-be realized that yes –shocker– there are geeky women a plenty in this world, and like many other women, they enjoy wearing make-up.

Now, the latest sci-fi brand to get the distinction of a make-up line is none other than Star Trek, just in time for its 50th anniversary this year. There will be an initial 25-piece collection — lip, eye and face — based around some of the most prominent ladies of the franchise, starting with Voyager’s Seven of Nine, The Next Generation’s Counselor Deanna Troi, and from the classic 1960’s series, Lt. Uhura and Vina, and the green skinned Orion slave girl. Hopefully Dr. Beverly Crusher, Major Kira and Captain Janeway represent if the line continues, as Star Trek has no shortage of amazing female characters.

Star Trek is an iconic pop culture phenomena whose storylines pushed gender and racial boundaries,” said MAC creative director James Gager in a statement. “For its 50th anniversary, we celebrate each of Star Trek’s powerful women in a transcending, transformational makeup collection.”

The MAC Star Trek collection will launch globally in September 2016, the actual 50th anniversary of Star Trek’s very first episode airing. Before that however, it can be purchased at an exclusive pre-sale at the Gaslamp MAC store on Thursday, 21 July 2016, during Comic-Con in San Diego, California.
