Stack the Deck with X-MEN Playing Cards

Given that the X-Men includes a character known for his skill with throwing cards, you’d think mutant-themed decks would be a widely available piece of merchandise. Alas, it isn’t so. Artist Mark Eastwood recognized the potential, though, and designed some wonderful custom cards featuring basically everyone but Gambit. The project is appropriately titled “Uncanny Playing Cards.” Look:

Eastwood’s style is unique and has a cartoony sort of vibe that works for me. I like seeing his take on characters from Professor X to Storm. He doesn’t leave any details out either–he even thought to give Emma Frost and Phoenix slightly different looks on each side of their cards.

Take a closer look at the card designs in the gallery below. Then, brace yourself for the tiniest bit of bad news: the cards aren’t for sale. I know, it’s a tragedy. But! It doesn’t make the cards any less cool. And let’s be honest: I wouldn’t want to damage cards like this by actually playing with them. They’re too rad for grubby hands to touch. I’d rather see them arranged on a print, framed, and put on a wall.

The X-Men cards are just one example from Eastwood’s portfolio. Visit his website to see more of his work. For example, he has some very cool starship illustrations featuring vehicles from Star Wars. You can also find his designs on Society6.

Head to the comments and tell me which X-Men you think deserve spots on face cards.
