SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Soundtrack Revives Classic Spidey Theme (Exclusive)

While most of us can agree that the Wonder Woman movie was pretty damn great, it was missing one thing–director Patty Jenkins forgot to throw in a nod to the iconic original Wonder Woman TV theme song from the ’70s! True, it would have been difficult to find a place to fit it in the movie, but c’mon…that theme song is SO identified with the character, that most people don’t just say the words Wonder Woman, they sing them to its tune.

Another superhero with an equally iconic theme song from back in the day is, of course, Spider-Man. The catchy opening tune to the character’s 1960s animated series is one of the great TV theme earworms, and it’s somehow never found its way into a proper Spider-Man film, outside of that one street performer singing it really badly in a subway station in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. But Spider-Man: Homecoming composer Michael Giacchino has found a way to work the nostalgic track into the latest film’s score. And it’s about time, we say!

Although this symphonic version doesn’t contain such classic lyrics “spins a web, any size/catches thieves just like flies” or make any mention of Peter Parker’s radioactive blood, it is still a fitting tribute to the classic series that helped make Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s creation from the pages of Marvel Comics into a household name.

Are you as excited as we are to see Tom Holland swinging from building to building to the tune of the old school theme as much as we are? Let us know down below in the comments!
