Spacey, Wahlberg, McConaughey, and More Imagined As Future Batmen by FOX ADHD

So are we still mad about the Ben Affleck Batman casting? The guy’s funny and has shown that he has the dramatic tough guy chops, and as an award-winning filmmaker, he might be able to bring some interesting layers to the role.

Some of you complained when Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but Warner Bros. could have gone in a different way. A very different way. This short from FOX ADHD imagines some of what some of the post-Affleck Batman casting decisions will look like as the studio attempts to recapture some of the Bat-magic with a few of Hollywood’s most popular leading men.

There are a couple of standouts in “Future Batmen” but Mark Wahlberg (voiced by our own DVK star Dan Van Kirk) might be the best in his charged and largely confused conversation with Two-Face about the nature (and number) of their respective faces. The Aaron Paul bit has me worried, though, that with enough jokes and memes, the Breaking Bad actor might end up trapped by his career-defining role as Jesse Pinkman (maybe he needs to do a bunch of wacky comedies with a full head of hair or something). Also: soul patch Batman is the best Batman.

Over its 50-year history, the Batman film franchise (and I’m including the Adam West feature) has gone through six actors (including Affleck). That’s as many as the Bond franchise, if five of the six Bonds were cast in the last 25 years (and a pair of full-on reboots thrown in).

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in theaters May 6, 2016.

If you include the two actors who played Batman in 1940s serials, there have been SEVEN actors who’ve played Batman on film: Lewis Wilson (1943), Robert Lowery (1949), Adam West (1966), Michael Keaton (1989) (1992), Val Kilmer (1995), George Clooney (1997), and Christian Bale (2005) (2008) (2012).
