Sony Steps into the Pro-Gaming Ring with New PS4 Controllers

Sony Steps into the Pro-Gaming Ring with New PS4 Controllers

When Microsoft released the Elite Controller, Xbox One users immediately took to the high-end, customizable controller and they were soon hard to come by. Even if  you’re not an eSports “pro-gamer,” the Elite Controller’s sleek design and ability to customize make it an appealing purchase. But what about folks who are partial to PlayStation? It appears that Sony has heard the community’s cry by licensing two separate companies to make pro-controllers. Trusted third party producers Razer and Nacon will both be launching their own controllers later this year.

First up is the Razer Raiju, which you can check out at the top of the page. This bad boy looks like an enhanced version of the Dual Shock 4 we all know and love. It sports cool PlayStation blue thumbsticks and grip to match. Similar to other pro-controllers, it features hair triggers on the back.

If you’re already a fan of the way the hefty Elite Controller fits in your hands, the Nacon Revolution (above) might be more your style. Like Microsoft’s official controller, the one above features thumbsticks that are diagonal instead of parallel. It boasts an 8-way directional pad, adjustable triggers, 3.5mm headset jack, four short-cut buttons, and additional buttons on the back.

We don’t have release dates or pricing at the time of this article, though we’d imagine both controllers will probably sell somewhere in the $100-$150 range based on the price of the Xbox One Elite Controller.

Seeing Sony jump on the Pro-controller train is a sign of the changing times. Earlier this year, PlayStation hosted the Call of Duty World League, so it’s safe to say the company already has an invested interest in the world of eSports. We are very intrigued to see how many non-pro-gaming consumers pick up one of these new controllers.
