Before Slash was the most legendary top-hat-clad lead guitarist of all time, he was a young kid living in London, obsessed with horror and sci-fi classics like Night of the Living Dead, The Exorcist, and Trog to name a few. In his own words, “I was that kid that liked dinosaurs and monsters and spiders and snakes.” Now Slash has taken that love of horror and decided to produce his own film, The Hell Within, and we were lucky enough to catch him down at Comic-Con on the Nerdist Conival stage.
After discussing his influences as a film enthusiast, and the parallels of iconoclasm that exist in the realms of rock & roll and horror, I asked Slash some hard hitting questions, including whether he would advise holding a guitar above or below the crotch. His answer was very thoughtful, giving credence to both methods of playing. He also let us know that he is working on new music, and we couldn’t be more stoked about that.
After watching the video above, be sure to check out all of our other field reports from this year’s Comic-Con. Rock on, dudes.
