SHE’S ALL THAT is Latest Film to Get Nostalgia-Based Remake Announcement

Well you know what they say about Pandora’s Box: once you open it it’s awfully hard to close. And the latest film from the past to get itself a remake/reboot/reimagining is the 90s teen rom-com — which was itself a re-imagining of My Fair Lady and Pygmalion because the snake will forever eat its own tail — She’s All That. So get ready for it to take off its glasses and blow you all away again!

The Freddie Prinze Jr-fronted film that also starred Rachael Leigh Cook as the “how could she possibly be beautiful? She’s wearing glasses!” undercover girl of his dreams was hugely popular amongst the teen circuit of 1999 when it came out. And really, what wasn’t there to like about it — it had all of the prerequisite nineties-isms firmly in place. There was the cool but sensitive jock (Prinze), the misunderstood but secretly beautiful nerd (Cook), Paul Walker being handsomely blonde, Matthew Lillard being a jerk (per usual), and Dulé Hill as the voice of reason black friend (hey, we never said the 90s were politically correct), looking to cut loose and have a little fun outside of The West Wing set (Charlie!).

According to The Wrap, Kenny Leon will direct the Tonya Lewis Lee-produced remake. There’s no word on who will write the script, but one can only hope that this will finally be M. Night Shyamalan’s chance to have his name officially associated with the writing of the film he previously admitted to having done some work on after Miramax bought the R. Lee Fleming Jr. script.
