See Maisie Williams as X-MEN Wolfsbane, and So Much Marvel News

Is everyone finally starting to come down from the high of this weekend’s The LEGO Batman Movie and John Wick: Chapter 2? You are?! Well, in today’s Movie Morsels, we’ll do our best to get y’all stoked for some more films coming our way, including the X-Men spinoff The New Mutants — a new image from which has just been released featuring Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams as every comic fan’s favorite Scottish teenage werewolf, Wolfsbane! Plus, the latest TV spot for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the best poster we’ve seen yet for the Power Rangers reboot, and much more!

The New Mutants

While Maisie Williams hasn’t yet been officially announced as The New Mutants resident lycanthrope, it’s clear that director Josh Boone (and presumably Fox) really wants Williams in the role. In fact, Boone is so eager to work with the Game of Thrones star that he’s shared an image that artist Ashley Guillory has created of Williams as the wondrous Wolfsbane. It’s a sure bet Boone wouldn’t risk the river of anticipation this image is likely to create if he wasn’t building himself some kind of raft in which to ride it…

When last asked about the role by Entertainment Weekly, Williams remarked, “I can’t say much about it at all, but I would absolutely love to be a part of it, [and] to be a part of the Marvel family. New Mutants looks absolutely incredible and I’ve always loved the idea of spin-offs and [director] Joshua Boone is incredibly talented. So, yeah, sign me up.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

In another, somewhat more cosmic corner of the Marvel movie universe, James Gunn’s eagerly awaited Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 has a brand-new TV spot, featuring the cocky-but-gracious tag line we all loved from the original film’s marketing campaign. Given that the sequel, which recently screen for test audiences, has scored higher than any Marvel film to date, I’ve a feeling we’re gonna be more thankful than ever to Gunn come May 5th…

Doctor Strange

And for even more Marvel fun, one of the bonus features on the Doctor Strange DVD and Blu-ray will be the film’s gag reel. A preview of these bloopers has just landed online, with stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton yukking it up. (The DVD/Blu-ray releases on February 28.)
