Second DOCTOR WHO Series 8 Teaser Reveals Old Foe

We’ve already seen the first teaser for the new series of Doctor Who premiering August 23rd at 8/7c on BBC America, and we know that, while it didn’t show us much, it did tell us that the Twelfth Doctor is unsure if he’s a good man, and Clara Oswald is unsure he even is the Doctor. It was only 15 seconds long, so not much information was shared. But the NEW teaser, a whopping 20 seconds long now, reveals a little bit more.

Not much more, mind; it’s another string of images inside the TARDIS clearly staged for the purposes of the teaser and not to be included in any episode, but a few things are very, very intriguing. Take a look, and then we’ll talk.

Umm… that sounds to me like the voice of the Doctor’s one-handed, paraplegic, Dalek-fathering nemesis Davros, doesn’t it to you? Davros has only been seen one time in the new series, in Series 4’s two-part finale “The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End.” That Dalecky-warble is unmistakable, I think. It certainly doesn’t sound like just your average Dalek. The image of the Doctor seemingly getting zapped by the Dalek’s rays and us seeing his two hearts while Davros speaks loftily about seeing the beauty in his hatred is chilling. If you’ll pardon the phrase, spine-chilling even.

We know next to nothing about the series’ first episode aside from it being feature-length and entitled “Deep Breath.” I think the return of Davros would be a particularly cinematic way to start a new Doctor’s tenure, and immediately test the Twelfth Doctor’s mettle and resolve.

I’m quite excited for the seeming return of Davros… are you? It’s not the Master, but it’s definitely one of the top 3 nemeses in the Doctor’s whole history. It definitely adds some stroke-your-beard-style mystery to the series. Can it be August already?

  1. Laura Morris says:

It has been revealed that he is the master. Apparently Samuel Anderson is The Doctor…

    • Caulin says:

I’m honestly getting tired of this rumor. We. Watched. Matt. Regenerate. You know, the Doctor turned into the next Doctor, blah blah blah. And the BBC even announced Peter as the Doctor. Sam Anderson is a character, but he will not be the Doctor. And if you want my opinion of who the big villian at the end of the season is that McCoy hinted at, it’s most likely Davros (though he may start the season instead) or the Valeyard. Remeber, Matt was the Doctor’s final natural regeneration and the Meta-crisis Doctor was technically the twelth incarnation of the Doctor. It’s about time for the Valeyard to appear in the Doctor’s time-stream. It was never confirmed that the new villain was going to be the Master to begin with. So, rumors taken into account, the Doctor could be the villain (and should be) because the VALEYARD (people forget about him too much) IS THE DOCTOR!!!!!

  2. BadWulf says:

Shut tup everyone. Just an injured dalek from Into the Dalek, the second episode. Yeah that that spoilers ROFL

  3. George says:

It’s not Davros. I read the leaked scripts. I won’t say what it is, but it is NOT Davros.

  4. Whovian says:

It’s definitely not Davros, it’s an injured Dalek. You’ll see come episode 2.

  5. Shane says:

    It’s NOT Davros. It’s a normal Dalek. You’ll see.

  6. Peter says:

I’m hoping it turns out to be the Dalek Time Controller  ðŸ˜€

  7. jonquilofmars says:

Davros! Excellent news. It’s going to be how they react (hopefully) much darker Doctor.

  8. freddy says:

Davros or anyone Dalek related isn’t surprising or even someone we haven’t seen in a long time. I am glad they pay respect to the old school enemies but time would be better invested telling a new story instead of rehashing stuff we have already seen before in the reboot. Are we really back to the Daleks ‘revealing’ that the Doctor has Great Darkness Inside? Again? Okay.

    • freddy says:

(And sorry, of course there are specific Dalek related characters we haven’t see in a long time, I stated that poorly. Dakeks in general I suppose is what I meant.)

  9. vampjoseph says:

See you hear Davros I on the other hand hear Dalek Khan or even The Dalek Emperor

  10. Viv Arney says:

I keep hoping they’ll bring back Omega.  Or The Celestial Toymaker.  So many good villains.  Anybody really as long as they DON’T bring back Rose EVER again!

    • Anrathia says:

They should have Lady Christina de Souza from the Easter special Planet of the Dead.

  11. Rusty Fender says:

I’m sure Moffat will put him to a MUCH better use than Davies did!

  12. Davros is forever! As long as the stories involving him and the doctor are great then, “BRING IT!!”

  13. bonnie says:

Can we please just be rid of Davros? I hated him in the Classic series, hate him now. His character annoys me….I’d LOVE to see them revamp some of the old villains from the classic series that haven’t been brought into the new one yet…

    • Martin says:

Why use the word “we”? YOU are going to have to get rid of Davros. You by yourself. So in reality there is nothing going to be done about it and he is going to stay.
You’re saying bringing back old villains and “revamping” them hasn’t been done yet. They have. Calm down. More will be “revamped” later.

  14. Michael says:

I…. don’t like the colour of his kidneys.

  15. Dylan says:

Davros would be interesting, though there’s definitely a part of me saying, “For the love God will NOTHING stay dead?”

    • Martin says:

Davros will not be dead anytime soon or ever. Him being an important character in Doctor Who lore and such. I know a “part” of you is saying that but it is coming a bit ignorant considering you are aware even The Doctor can’t stay dead. This is a fiction show anything happen and everything can not happen. Death to an important character is unlikely especially with all the time travel, advanced technology, and science jumbo talk in Doctor Who.

  16. Doesn’t he have enough to deal with, having two timelines in his head (Galifrey falls, Galifrey is saved)? He’s had three regenerations filled with guilt– and reacted to situations with that. Now he has to come to terms with an entirely new reality. This Doctor has to sort that all out (he’s going to be “mad,” as in crazy). And the voice in the tease does sound like Davros.

  17. I wish there were more animated episode of Doctor Who -Dreamland

  18. Nick says:

Dalek Time Controller. I bet my pension. If I had one

    • Chaz says:

Totally agree. Davros sounds slightly different, and the voice in this sounds like Briggs.

      • DiscoKingz says:

sounds like 2 voices, one morphing into another. I think Davros into dalek.

  19. Rod says:

Sounded like him. Maybe they will finally tie in where he his voice in the episode, I think it was, The Pandorica Opens. When River has taken the TARDIS to Amy’s bedroom shortly before it explodes.

  20. Number 1 on the Doctor Who Villain Checklist: Daleks and their Daddy Davros. *sigh* Hopefully we’ll see a new villain this time around.

  21. Dan Drew says:

Not sure if it’s Davros, it really doesn’t sound like him at the end. But it would be nice if it was.

  22. Dan Drew says:

Would be nice to be the Dalek time Controller from Big Finish too lol ^_^
