After straying from the important mystery at hand for the past few weeks, Scream Queens got back on track again with “Mommie Dearest.” Not only did we find out that Boone was one of the killers, but we also saw Grace learn more about the baby (uh, babies) that was born that night in the bathtub, witnessed Dean Munsch kick some Red Devil booty, and uncovered more details about Grace’s mother. Plus, both Niecy Nash and Nick Jonas made a glorious return this week. We still don’t know who the other Red Devil Killer is, but the fun thing about the show is that it could be anyone. They all have a motive of some sort, which has kept us on our feet and entertained.
Upon Denise Hemphill’s (Nash) return this week, she informed the girls that she’d moved into Kappa House. In fact, she referred to herself as the sorority’s house mother, and gave herself permission to raid No. 5’s closet for clothes (because of course they are the same size). Hopefully that means that she’ll be in more scenes from here on out. I mean, I guess she could get killed at any moment, but I really hope that doesn’t happen because she’s one of the best parts of the show.
Anyways, though she was already set on proving that Zayday was the killer, the Chanels offered her 3 million dollars to crack the case. To the girls, this is a small lump of change. But to Denise, it it’ll help her accomplish her life long dream of buying Sandals. No, not flip flops. She has her sights set on the famous Sandals Resort. When No. 3 asked her what she’d do once she owned it, she explained that she would work as a part-time security guard, and spend the rest of the time having fun, “drinkin’ and looking sexy.”
Unfortunately, Denise’s new deal with the Chanels ended up getting Jennifer (a.k.a. the Candle Vlogger) murdered. She was one of the first people Denise reached out to for evidence, which Jennifer gave, much to the dismay of Zayday, who was listening to he entire conversation while she was in the bathroom. Apparently when she was in high school, there was a group of rich girls who invited Zayday to sit with them at lunch. But when she ended up going, all they did was sit and make fun of her outfit. From that moment, she decided to get “real” revenge on fancy rich girls everywhere. After being confronted by Zayday for talking behind her back, Jennifer was killed while shooting a vlog. At least she died doing what she loved!
Meanwhile, Grace did some more sleuthing. After promising to tell Grace more about the baby in the bathtub, Dean Munsch kind of held up her end of the deal this week by giving her the name of the mother. Though many — including Grace — suspected that it was her mother, it wasn’t. Seeing the look of disappointment on her face, Munsch criticized Grace for using the investigation as a means to find her mother, and told her that none of it mattered because Feather was the killer. But the Dean quickly changed her tune after battling the Red Devils herself, later that night. Following a throwback to the famous shower scene in Psycho (which starred Curtis’ mother, Janet Leigh), Dean Munsch beat up not one, but two Red Devils, and a third person (who we later found out was Gigi) dressed as Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
Following her own battle with the Devils and Jennifer’s gruesome death, Munsch finally decided to close the school, which kicked everybody’s investigation plans into overdrive. When Grace and Pete couldn’t find out more about the name that Munsch had given, they decided to look into the Hag of Shady Lane for answers. Since they figured whoever it was was probably nuts, they took a trip back to the psych hospital to ask the resident sketch artist whether she had seen the Hag of Shady Lane twenty years ago. Fortunately she had and, when she brought out the portrait, Grace realized it was Gigi and that there were two babies in the picture. When Grace told her father about it, and accused him of being involved, he brushed it off and creepily stared into the mirror.
While all of this is going on, Chanel decided to hire Scotland Yard to look into Zayday and Grace. Though both girls had clean records, the detectives were able to dig up some dirt on Grace’s mom, which Chanel didn’t hesitate to throw in her face. After years of wanting to know more about her mother, finding out that she was a trashy junkie was hard for Grace to hear. Fortunately, Denise forced her to apologize. By doing so, we heard more about Chanel’s own terrible mother, and saw a flashback featuring her childhood self.
Joaquin Phoenix or Boone? ð #ScreamQueens pic.twitter.com/KJ8KoeTTjX

At the very end of the episode, we saw a rather buff Nick Jonas, dressed in a disguise. Okay, it was just a beard, but it was enough for people in the gym to mistake him for Joaquin Phoenix, and ask him for his autograph. Anyways, since we last saw him, all he has been doing is working out and murdering people. While on the phone with the other Red Devil, he expressed that he was tired of hiding, and that they needed to get rid of Gigi and finish what they set out to do.
What did you think of this week’s episode? Who do you think the other killer is? Let us know in the comments below.
