Creepy little kids and horror movies are a winning/terrifying combination, but that’s usually because we’re stuck gazing into their dead, demonic eyes. But it turns out when you have a good enough vocal performance, they can also scare the crap out of us with nothing more than a phone call. We know because we had Timmy Turner from The Fairly OddParents take over for Ghostface to recreate one of the most memorable scenes from Scream.
In this clip from our Alpha series Talkinâ Toons, when voice actor Tara Strong joined host Rob Paulsen, the pair read the iconic opening scene from Scream, when Ghostface called Drew Barrymore’s character Casey. Strong took over for the anonymous killer, and with that high-pitched, sweet sounding voice of Timmy, managed to make the part scary in a totally different way. (Although Rob’s hilarious deadpan in his own voice made Barrymore’s side of the conversation a lot funnier than the original version.)
We’re not sure which of this pair’s recreated scenes we like moreâthis one or when we they read a scene from The Big Lebowski with Strong subbing in her The Powerpuff Girls character Bubbles. But that’s okay because we don’t have to choose.
And members of our interactive online community Alpha, never have to decide either, because that’s where you can find complete episodes of Talkin’ Toons and the rest of all our great shows there. If you sign up now you even get your first 30 days free.
We really hope you do. Otherwise you never know if we’ll ask Timmy Turner to call you up and ask you to join. That might have sounded pretty awesome before you saw this clip, but who wants to risk getting a creepy phone call from a little kid?
