Scott Lang Does Recon on Hank Pym’s House in ANT-MAN Deleted Scene

When Hank Pym introduced himself to Scott Lang in Ant-Man, it was after Scott was arrested for breaking into Hank’s home. As the above video shows, their first meeting could have gone a little bit different.

With commentary by director Peyton Reed and star Paul Rudd, the deleted scene shows Scott disguised as a cable man infiltrating Hank’s home before his attempted break in. As he is looking over the house, Scott notices the key chain on a front table and realizes that’s what he’ll need to break into the downstairs safe. As we all know (SPOILER), Hank is also pulling a con because he is the one that set up the job in the first place.

According to Reed, the scene was cut because when the actual break-in occurs, that series of events was already a great depiction of Scott’s resourcefulness. Also, had this scene stayed in, it would have been Hank Pym’s introduction in the present day, and Reed felt they needed a better way to present him.

Based on the final product, I agree that this scene was not necessary for the film, other than the possible banter between Lang and Pym. I enjoyed the comedy in the movie, and any chance to see more of it is always welcome.

Ant-Man debuts on digital formats November 17th and Blu-ray December 8.

Should they have included this scene in the movie? What other disguises should Scott have tried out? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below.
