SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE Reimagined INDEPENDENCE DAY With the Real President

This is why movie presidents are always better than real ones.

We know what you’re thinking: “Why are you guys taking a political stance?” But we think this would be equally funny no matter who’s in charge. Obama might tell the invading aliens that if they like their vulnerable-to-Jeff-Goldblum-hacking computer network, they can keep it. Dubya might speak in English that they wouldn’t understand, because he mangles a syll-Able or two. Clinton would want to know what their women would look like. Point is, none of them would lay down an off-the-cuff speech like Bill Pullman’s. And for that, maybe we can all laugh and cry together. Of course, neither would they bust out the automatic weapons as quickly as President Camacho.

Trump? Well, you’ll see.

But even if we can’t all agree that Saturday Night Live‘s “real president in movie president situation” is funny, I think we can all agree that there was a big missed opportunity in not having a Jeff Goldblum counterpart around. Because nothing improves a nerdy sketch like a Goldblum reference. That’s why they didn’t make an Independence Day sequel without him.

Also, our current POTUS can take a Stone Cold Stunner. So who’s to say he couldn’t handle aliens?

Laughing at those in power is healthy. It keeps them grounded and realizing they’re human just like us. And also that Will Smith could probably beat all of them up if they dared attempt a close encounter.

Are we off-base, or does this invasion come up trumps? Offer any and all respectful comments down below.
