Sarah Silverman and Jeff Goldblum Duet on ‘Me And My Shadow’

It turns out, Sarah Silverman and Jeff Goldblum make quite the jazzy little pair. Sarah has a piano in her apartment, and her good friend Jeff just happened to drop by and suggest they sing a little ditty, with Jeff choosing an old jazz standard popularized by Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr.. “Me and My Shadow” might have been written at the tail end of the roaring twenties, but it hasn’t lost its luster nearly 90 years later.

Jeff and Sarah harmonize really well together, and as The AV Club points out, their personal chemistry is likely what has led them to be cast opposite each other a few times. They’ve changed up a few key parts of the lyrics to more closely mirror their lives in Los Angeles. Original lyrics “we’ll wind up at Jillie’s right after Toot’s Shore” becomes “we’ll head down to Largo and then maybe to Norm’s.” Sarah has a long and rich history with Largo. Her 2013 HBO special “We Are Miracles” was filmed at Largo, and her periodic standup show at the venue, Sarah Silverman & Friends, features her and other comedians. With the confirmation that Wreck-It Ralph 2 is officially in the works, we’ll hopefully be hearing Sarah Silverman using her voice magic again soon as Vanellope von Schweetz!

Goldblum is no stranger to using his voice for a good, fun cause. Last fall he appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to croon lyrics to the iconic John Williams-scored Jurassic Park theme. Sarah isn’t the first person he’s duetted “Me and My Shadow” with, either; he’s performed the tune with Kevin Spacey, John Storie, and James King. When it works, it works.

Like how these two sound together? Sound off and let us know!
