Rumor: Is Marvel Studios Canceling the INHUMANS Movie?

One of the major films Marvel Studios announced last year when they revealed their big “Phase Three” slate was The Inhumans, originally scheduled for 2019, based on characters created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby back in the ’60s. On the TV side of things, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been slowly introducing the concept of the Inhumans over the past two seasons, with the reveal that there are people called Inhumans (humans with DNA tampered by aliens, which gives them powers) all over the world. This was intended to be a giant lead-in to an Inhumans feature film, which would no doubt feature the “big guns” of the Inhumans, also known as the Royal Family, which features characters like Black Bolt, Medusa, Karnak and Crystal.

Now a rumor has surfaced that the Inhumans movie has been cancelled by Marvel Studios. The reason? Apparently, the Inhumans movie is a victim of the internal schism between Marvel Studios, run by Kevin Feige, and Marvel TV, which is controlled by Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter. Marvel Studios is newly liberated from Perlmutter and now answers only to Disney’s Bob Iger. And it would seem that the first thing a now free Feige might have done is ditch the Inhumans film. Even if the movie is canceled, though, Marvel TV could run with an Inhumans television show as a spin-off from Agents of SHIELD if they wanted. It should also be noted that the folks at Birth.Movies.Death are hearing that Adam McKay is really itching to do an Inhumans movie and that a script has already been written, which goes against the notion of an Inhumans movie being canned.

As of right now, this is all just rumor, but an interesting rumor nevertheless. Inhumans still has an official release date from the studio of July 12, 2019.

What do you think of these latest rumors? Are you bummed about a possible cancelation to the Inhumans movie, or would you rather see a TV series? Let us know in the comments!
