ROCK BAND VR Coming to Oculus Rift

In case you hadn’t heard yet, virtual reality is a, well… a reality. The Oculus Rift is set to launch early next year, and with it will come many new and exciting projects. Harmonix took to the Video Game Awards stage to announce that Rock Band VR was incoming. That’s right, you’ll be able to actually feel like you’re shredding on stage in front of an audience. The announcement came by way of a hilarious video of the Harmonix crew training to become actual rock stars. Watch the clip above.

As absolutely fantastic as this news is, there are a lot of unanswered questions. Will this work with multiple Oculus Rifts? One major reason that Rock Band is so popular is because you get to play with others, and losing that would be a huge misstep. Also, is this its own separate game or is it somehow linked to Rock Band 4? Purchasing another one of these games specifically for VR sounds like a hassle. Finally, what about all our purchases? I know fans of this franchise buy tons of songs, so making sure they transfer over will be vital. Either way, it’s going to be exciting to be fully immersed when we’re shredding on the axe.

Will Guitar Hero Live will eventually take the same route, since the new iteration is all about feeling like you’re actually performing in fort of a large crowd? It seems like that’d be the more suitable experience to make its way to VR.
