RICK AND MORTY Did a Live-Read of a Wild Court Transcript at Comic-Con

About a month ago, absolute madness went down in a Georgia courtroom, and the transcript of the outrageous proceedings blew up the internet. The court session amounted to the defendant and the judge getting in a shouting match with each other, filled with swearing and tons of sexual language; The term “big old donkey dick” was used more than once.

Those who haven’t read this amazing document can do so here… or you can watch the transcript re-enacted word-for-word by Justin Roiland, in character as the two leads from Rick and Morty. The basic, storyboard-style animation premiered at Comic-Con, and it works surprisingly well. Rick plays the defendant while Morty plays the judge, and the transcript reads like if a joke from Rick and Morty had dragged on just a bit too long (in a good way).

Watching the video, it’s hard to believe that this dialogue wasn’t crafted by comedy writers, that it’s actually what happened in a courtroom one fine day in Georgia. But alas, that is the case, and completely un-retouched, the transcript is perfectly in line with the Rick and Morty tone. The defendant’s dialogue is filled with wild accusations and outbursts that sound like jokes Rick would make, while Judge Morty tries to maintain balance but eventually loses his cool: Not much would have to be changed to make this a legitimate Rick and Morty episode.

And for another take, here’s what it was like from the audience perspective that night:

All in all, we’re just happy that the court stenographer had a fascinating day and got to type some of the wildest stuff they had ever had to transcribe.
